Item Upgrade: A Simple Definition
Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The statistics of an item are improved by upgrading it, also referred to as "upping". Each upgrade increment increases the stats linearly.
Players can recycle up to six items at a time to gain an ability to gauge the level of each of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling a piece of equipment increases according to their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
An item upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a procedure that can improve the effectiveness of your weapons and armor. This can be done through various methods that include the use of upgrade components and also increasing an item's mark level or rarity. A lot of items can be reforged in order to increase their stats.
Upgradable items can be found throughout the game, both within the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be crafted by players. The most common method of upgrading gear is through the use of upgrade components, which are items that can be slotted into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with slots for upgrading, and many require a specific level of upgrade. Some upgrade components give specific bonuses while others provide general bonuses.
There are a variety of upgrade components in the game, including universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, such as gemstones and enchantments, can be put in any kind of equipment and offer less bonuses than those that are equipment-type specific to the type of equipment. Glyphs are only available in gathering tools, and provide various bonuses, from increasing the speed of an item's gathering to providing additional crafting materials.
To upgrade an item, simply select it in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen. It will display the expected statistics after the upgrade. The Upgrade button at the bottom will read blocked if you don't have enough of or.
The upper-right side of the screen shows the number of upgrade components required to create the specific item. The cost of an upgrade increases depending on the upgrade level and rarity, but can be reduced by many different methods, including purchasing upgrades from a retailer or trading them with other players.
Almost all weapons can be upgraded with a prefix upgrade, such as an insignia or rune. Many are upgraded by an upgrade suffix. These upgrades can be used to add an adjective to the name of the item for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs are a powerful tool to communicate visual information. They are animated to grab the viewer's attention and spur interest in the brain. The animation of glyphs resembles the body language and makes them more effective in communicating the message of a language barrier. Glyphs can also increase the retention of a message by evoking an experience of familiarity in the brain.
Each glyph has a set of values it can increase a stat's value, as shown on the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an artifact. This isn't the actual amount at which the glyph will increase a stat, but the maximum value by which it can do so. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and quality of the product you are in awe of it.
The majority of upgrade components that are installed into items cannot be removed or replaced without removing them except for legendary upgrades and equipment. If you have a rune or glyph you do not want to use, but it hasn't been applied to the gear yet, you can move the item to another piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu within the Glyphs Panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.
You can take out any glyph with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. This will destroy the item in which it is installed however, you can salvage the upgraded item by using the glyph and its shards therefore it should not be considered as a loss.
Adding a glyph to an item may cause it to be unstable, and the shards that are left of that glyph will disappear from your inventory once you dismantle the item. You can also apply a glyph to your equipment to add an additional benefit. For instance, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and then deal it out slowly rather than all at once. This can be helpful for those who take a lot of damage from their enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens are used to change the affixes of equipment and weapons. They can be obtained from many sources, including mystery boxes and rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Every reroll grants the player an affix randomly chosen and generally better than the one they had prior to. Reroll tokens can also be a good way to reroll weapon stats, which can be upgraded to provide better damage or perks.
Items that have been rerolled may not appear in the item upgrade menu, but they are still eligible to receive upgrades. By pressing item upgrades upgrade button" you can recycle these items that have been rerolled. This will alter the appearance of the window for the item, and allow up to six items to be chosen to recycle. The level gauge is boosted by recycling an item. This amount is determined by the item's rarity as well as its level, which means higher-level items are more useful to recycle than lower-level ones.
In addition to tokens for rerolls, players can use Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to roll the Weapon Traits of an upgraded unit. Rerolls will roll a % chance for a weapon's trait. If it rolls higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower the weapon is left as it was. Weapons can be repeatedly rolled up to three times.
Rerolls are a great option to upgrade an item, however, players should be aware that it could lower the overall ilvl of the weapon based on the number of rerolls used in order to increase it to its final ilvl. This lowering effect is most effective on ring items and Diadems that do not have any alternatives to raise their ilvls.
The system of rerolls has been criticised by players for being too expensive, and it would be more reasonable to let players pay for it in the form of money or a food item that would allow players to alter their builds without spending too much time and energy. The developers have no plans to implement paid rerolls at this stage of the game's development. They are planning to add a potion that will allow players to change their race in the future.
Leveling
There are a variety of ways to upgrade an item. The first is to increase the upgrade amount, which increases the value of an upgrade for a given stat. The second option is to boost the effect of the upgrade, which boosts the damage or healing of a stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. The upgraded item will keep its iLevel, but will have the upgraded effects of the upgraded item.
It is important to remember that upgrades are random. In the majority of cases the chance of a better roll will come from the glyphs, but there are also opportunities for higher or more special rolls. In addition the iLevel of an upgrade will be determined by the type of item and should you upgrade a unique or rare item to a unique type you could achieve an iLevel that is higher.
Upgrading items can be costly especially when you're upgrading a piece of equipment from the standard to legendary track. The cost of upgrading a piece of equipment will depend on the iLevel it's built upon as well as the number of levels to upgrade. In addition, some upgrade tracks require crests to reach the next upgrade level.
If you're lucky your upgraded item will reach the maximum level of its upgrade track and gain a bonus effect. This will give the item a significant upgrade value. The bonus effect is different with each upgrade level. In general, the upgrade effect is increased by +3.
The iLevel can also change depending on the item's upgrade path and its base level. For instance an item upgraded from being a rare or unique item to an outstanding one will have the chance to gain the enhanced defense of the new base item.
